Description
Michael Smallwood was born in 1950 and raised in Washington D.C. From 1972-1976 he attended University of Maryland graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art. He worked for almost 30 years as Assistant Registrar at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. An accomplished painter, printmaker, and photographer, he ran a photography business for many years following his retirement from the Smithsonian. He is known for exploring geometric abstraction in his art practice.
