Rigmor Poenaru studied art at the Art Student’s League in 1964 before attending the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, from 1965-1967. In 1967 she worked as an assistant to Stanley Hayter at Atelier 17, and only two years later held her first exhibitions. In 1969 alone she showed her work in Rhode Island, Copenhagen, Oslo, and at the Foreningen Norden’s traveling exhibition. Poenaru’s work is held in some of the most prestigious museums in the world, including the Biblioteque Nationale, the Fogg Museum at Harvard University, the New York Public Library, and many others.
